Melissa shares the leadership of the Perspectives Southeast Region with Adam. Her passion is to see people find their place in God's global mission.

Year Long Project: Orlando Leader's Intensive
Beginning in early 2017 we began internally thinking and discussing hosting a regionally lead Intensive class for Perspectives - designed for leaders particularly: pastors, mission professionals, instructors etc. By February we were putting the pieces together and mapped out March 4-10, 2018 as the dates which we'd have all 15 lessons presented in one week.

After a year of planning we were able to travel and see the first fruits of the labor we had put in all year. The event was incredible. We'd been through Perspectives numerous times since our first class in 2005. But this one was qualitatively different. It was exhilarating (not necessarily better) to walk alongside organizational leaders as they process this first for themselves, then for their communities.

Personally there were multiple new connections with the Perspectives material that we saw for the first time. While doing only Perspectives for a full week is a barrier to some, being able to hear the instruction for the lessons in rapid succession made the interconnections between lessons stand out even more.
Here is the *public* version of our Intensive class. We had many wearing red tags whose photos are not being distributed in Christian circles as they have ministry work in security sensitive places.
One participant said,

"The intensive class brought the information to bear in a way that the usual weekly activities didn't interrupt. That made the impact and continuity of thought more impactful. I suppose I learned 3x as much (or more) through the intensive than through the regular class. "

Other Initiatives

While the Intensive has eaten our proverbial lunch, we've been still advancing Perspectives for Spring 2018 and beginning to plan out Fall 2018. We've also been working on strategic planning initiatives - currently at an internal communication stage. Part of our core goals that began in 2015 was increasing our regional team. We currently have 15 team members working with in part time capacities. I've extended invitations to a number of others but have also begun conversations with 3 individuals considering joining the team at 20+ hours/week.

Adoption Update

We have funding in place for the adoption to happen and are officially in the matching phase. We receive cases via email that we then ask, "are we the best-fit for that child's situation?" If the answer is a yes, we submit our profile book / look book and the expectant mother reviews a handful to select the family. Even though we haven't been selected, its is good to be at this stage in the process.

The Hoffmans are members of the mission agency Frontier Ventures, currently assigned as Perspectives Southeast Regional Directors.

What is Perspectives?

Perspectives is a fifteen week course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose.

The Biblical and Historical sections reveal why our confidence is based on the historic fact of God's relentless work from the dawn of history until this day.

The Cultural and Strategic sections underscore that we are in the midst of a costly, but very "do-able" task, confirming the Biblical and Historical hope.
