Season of Hard Pause

Here is our current support status (updated 6/20/18)
At the beginning of June, we were able to successfully recruit and accept two support based people to join our regional team - we are so excited for them to raise support and work alongside of us.

In stewarding people well, leaders (including us) want to make sure that the support is fully there before we launch people into their assignments. From experience it is easy to allow the joy of the ministry take any time that was supposed to be for support raising - thus most people who start working before they raise support don't finish - leaving themselves in precarious financial situations. We are in that boat. In 2008 we moved to Pasadena not yet fully funded with a plan to finish. We have never able to take a full salary. When finances are tight, it can cause stress and take us away from our kingdom work.

We are under the conviction that leaders must lead in vision and by example. Thus to have integrity with requiring our staff to raise full support, we must raise full support. When we told our supervisor our low support, he double downed on us requiring us to hard pause for as much as we can.

For the month of June we are using 50% of our time support raising and 50% Perspectives. To be honest its hard to leave Perspectives things undone but we must do this for our family and for our staff. Beginning July (coinciding with a major Perspectives transition (below), we will be 75% Perspectives, 25% Support Raising.

As of June 20th, we are 62% funded. Pray with us that we can mobilize in our support raising so we can continue to mobilize in Perspectives.

Perspectives Endorsement

Our colleague found JD Greear in the halls of SBC and asked him about Perspectives.

What is Perspectives?

Perspectives is a fifteen week course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose.

The Biblical and Historical sections reveal why our confidence is based on the historic fact of God's relentless work from the dawn of history until this day.

The Cultural and Strategic sections underscore that we are in the midst of a costly, but very "do-able" task, confirming the Biblical and Historical hope.

Perspectives Vision ...

is to see the Body of Christ awakened to pursue the fulfillment of God's global purpose within every people for His glory.

Perspectives Mission ...

is to mobilize by educating the Body of Christ (in the USA) to strategic engagement in God's global purpose.

Major Perspectives Announcement

As of July 1st, we will be adding the MidSouth to our stewardship. The exiting Regional Director was unable to complete her succession plan so we will be stewarding the MidSouth states of Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia.

This region shares much of the cultural dynamics of the Southeast being in the Bible belt, having multiple college opportunities and typical challenges of metros and smaller communities all ready to be mobilized to Great Commission understanding and obedience.

Pray with us as we get to know the coordinators, instructors, and churches. Pray that we would approach the change management process with patience and grace to properly serve coordinators.
