{Hoffman Holla' 2018-8} Reminder of "Why Perspectives?"

Sobering Reality

Our family has dedicated our lives and our professional career to partnering with the church for Great Commission awareness. Our family mission statement has been to

"open people's eyes to what God is doing in the world and how they can strategically be involved in reaching the unreached".

Since we created that statement in 2005, we have held to the sense that if people only knew about the reality of Unreached People Groups and the mandate of the Great Commission, then people would do something about it (become strategically engaged). Mobilization by education.

A new survey from Barna releases a grim outlook on the reality of education of mission mobilization-discipleship
Out of the church goers surveyed, only 171/1004 (17%) could offer a response to knowing what the Great Commission is. This is wider than the typical evangelical stream but it is also more specific than just "Christians". Half of them responded that they had Never.Even.Heard.About.It. This sobering reality draws our hearts to pray for the Kingdom reality of God's character and purposes to be known in our communities. It also inspires us to keep using the Perspectives course as a tool for education by mobilization.
Global Frontier Mission has released a great video describing UPGs.

Support Update

Here is our current support status (updated 8/31/18)
We have been striving to envision people to new partnerships with our role in Perspectives with prayer, advocacy, and finances. As the chart above demonstrates - we still have 33% of our ongoing support to raise. We are still dedicating 25% of our weekly time to seeing this come together.

Strategic Engagement

We are in a season of strategic engagement to grow Perspectives.

More and more we are becoming leaders of leaders and mobilizers of mobilizers. This journey has allowed us to operate more in the strategic realm and hand off much of the tactical operations. Here are five movements of strategic engagement. Contact us if you are interested in the details.

Strategic Goals
We have set four strategic goals for 2020 encompassing 50 classes by 2020 (within the historic Southeast five state configuration), Team, Partnerships/Networking and serving our context.

Organization ReDesign
We have gone from a flat organization with no design to now having layers with mtuliple teams. I haven't found mid-level supervisors yet but the design of the organization is growing our capacity and clarifying the team's contribution.

Recruitment to Regional Team
We now have 24 people serving along side of us on this regional team. This has grown from zero in 2015 to where we are now. Praise God for these talented and dedicated people. 2 are raising support part time and 1 is raising support full-time to join our team.

Strategic Projects
There are 27 improvement projects we've mapped out that we will begin to tackle. We are launching three to start: defining Area, onboarding team, and a discipleship-mobilization process (course plan).

Slack Migration
We are moving much of our communication to Slack to allow for teamwork and collaboration.

What is Perspectives?

Perspectives is a fifteen week course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose.

The Biblical and Historical sections reveal why our confidence is based on the historic fact of God's relentless work from the dawn of history until this day.

The Cultural and Strategic sections underscore that we are in the midst of a costly, but very "do-able" task, confirming the Biblical and Historical hope.
