{Hoffman Holla' 2019-3} Teaching Perspectives

Last Month: Teaching Perspectives

February was a travel heavy month with trips throughout VA, NC, SC, GA,& FL. Most of the travel was for teaching Perspectives. We love working through a decentralized group of coordinators to see fruitful mobilization-discipleship happen locally amongst classes. We also love being with them, seeing the class and contributing to the Perspectives content.

We taught five lessons in a two week span (plus a PCW leader training). The first lesson was Lesson 4: Mandate to the Nations. That was the second lesson I (Adam) ever taught, and I hadn't taught it in the six years since. I love teaching in the Biblical section and this was giving a picture of Jesus' focus on all peoples.

Then I was able to teach Lesson 6: Expansion of the World Christian Movement for the local Raleigh class. This lesson takes me back to my time with INSIGHT in Pasadena since this lesson gives a two-hour version of the year-long curriculum. Lesson 6: Expansion of the World Christian Movement tracks the progress of the gospel over the past 2000 years. This video illustrates a basic geographical representation of the spread of Christianity.

Lesson 7: Eras of Mission History was solo taught once and co-taught twice. We really enjoy sharing the content of a lesson together and make a pretty good team! If taught right, Lesson 7 becomes a hinge-pin that connects all the other lessons together. It covers the Protestant Mission Movement expressing the fulfillment of the biblical section and a preview of the culture and strategy lessons.

Part of Lesson 7 is highlighting & celebrating that our mission sending heritage is lead by African Americans in mission. Rev. George Liele was the first American foreign missionary, before Adoniram Judson, who was the first American foreign missionary to go with an established mission agency.

Regional Update

This semester we have 21 classes across our nine-states, representing over 800 students. Two of these classes are pioneering Perspectives mobilization within their communities and have a vision for replication. We are preparing for Fall 2019 classes as well with 17 classes considering launches.

Support Update

Praise God for delivering us financially to 82% supported. The past month has been so travel heavy that we've not been able to book support appointments and develop this further. Pray for us to do what we need to carve out the time to engage with people about this mission and invite them to partner with us through prayer, advocacy and finances.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for the support raising process to call people to Great Commission participation by investing in mobilization via Perspectives. Pray specifically that we would be able to raise the remaining amount in the coming weeks.
  • Pray for engagement with the FV Board. Pray for clarity in vision, strategic thinking, longterm growth and graceful interactions.
  • Pray for our Perspectives role in stewarding a mobilization movement. There are over 800 Perspectives participants in our nine state region this semester.
  • Pray for our family and the adoption process.
