What is the Vision?

The September Hoffman Holla' focused on the three major mission statements that guide us. The purpose of a mission statement is to declare the intentions of what you want to do. They are activating statements. However, without vision, a mission is hollow. This newsletter focuses on the picture of what we long to see ... the reason we do what we do ... the direction in which our mission statements take us ...VISION.

While statements slightly differ between Frontier Ventures and Perspectives, they are aligned and so I'll talk about vision in the singular. An organization with competing vision statements is doomed.

Ultimately we long to see Habakkuk 2:14 come to fruition "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." Note that the key word here is knowledge; God's glory is already covering the earth (Romans 1:19-20). However relational knowledge of this gospel is not widespread (Matthew 24:14, Romans 10:9-17); where there is no access to this gospel, we've described them as unreached people groups. God has declared his purpose that some from all peoples would collectively represent his glory (Rev. 7:9-12). This verse with a picture of a map is hung high and in plain view in our office as a reminder of what we do everyday. God has said that the harvest is ready but the laborers are few; thus we pray and work towards raising up laborers to join his mission of reconciliation (Luke 10:2).

The Great Commission (found in all four gospels) is a mandate for all to be a part of. Its an invitation to be about the Father's business. We all have a role to play. For this season, God has us mobilizing and training others to join the cause. We were challenged to stay to be fruitful via multiplication; essentially could our strategic not going open the door for many others to strategically go or strategically stay? Our prayer is that by staying stateside and doing the work of mobilization, hundreds or even thousands would get involved in reaching the unreached.


Hoffman Family Mission Statement:

"To open people's eyes to what God is doing in the world and how they can strategically be involved in reaching the unreached."

Frontier Ventures purpose statement:

"We serve initiatives focused on increasing momentum for the breakthrough of the Gospel among the last remaining unreached people groups of the world."

Perspectives Mission Statement:
"To mobilize by educating the Body of Christ in the USA to strategic engagement in God's global purpose."

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for the 9 Fall 2016 classes running this year and the 250+ students engaging in this narrative.
  • Pray for Melissa & I plus the team running the local RDU Class - we just wrapped up the historical section and starting the section on culture.
  • Pray for the spring classes as they recruit and spread the word about Perspectives in their local areas.
  • Pray for a Perspectives Coordinator Workshop in Atlanta Dec 2-3
  • Pray for Adam and Melissa teaching lesson 15 in Atlanta Dec 4th
  • Pray for our leadership of Perspectives to the coordinators and 11 staff on our regional team.

What is Perspectives?

Perspectives is a fifteen week course designed around four vantage points or "perspectives" — Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. Each one highlights different aspects of God's global purpose.

The Biblical and Historical sections reveal why our confidence is based on the historic fact of God's relentless work from the dawn of history until this day.

The Cultural and Strategic sections underscore that we are in the midst of a costly, but very "do-able" task, confirming the Biblical and Historical hope.
