God's Grace is Abundant!
A few weeks ago Adam and I met a great guy who coordinates Perspectives in the eastern part of NC. During our meeting we realized that he turned out to be a part of my history - we use it as a horror story of Perspectives gone wrong and to demonstrate how God's grace covers all situations. Here's the story.
10 years ago I (Melissa) started a internship with the Southeast Regional office of Perspectives in Raleigh, NC. The first semester I was helping with a class I was privileged to hear Bob Stevens (the Regional Director) teach an awesome Lesson 1 on God being a missionary God. At the time we had three classes in the Raleigh area on three consecutive nights. I eagerly showed up at the second location to set up and prepare for another awesome night. Students started to arrive and all was a buzz with the exciting start of the Perspectives class. Then Bob arrived, green - literally his face was green. He quickly handed me his notebook and said, "I am too sick to stay and teach, here are my notes, you will have to teach the lesson tonight."
Fear and panic quickly took over all excitement. I had only heard this lesson ONCE and now these poor students were going to have to hear me try to follow Bob's mixture of typed and handwritten notes to teach this lesson.
I honestly don't remember much about the actual teaching, I think I blocked it from my memory. So you can imagine the flush of heat that came over me when this coordinator says, "Was that you?" as we realized that he was in that class. God's grace really does cover all the crazy! Praise God he stuck through that Perspectives class and it totally transformed his life.
As I said we use this story to demonstrate that crazy stuff might happen during Perspectives that you just cant plan for. Technology will fail, microphone batteries will die, and speakers may show up green, BUT God is always in control. Now I have proof! God can work through the worst possible situations for His Glory!
If you interested in hearing what Lesson 1 is all about find a Perspectives class in your area on the
website here. You can attend the first night for free but be prepared, you will probably want to stay for the whole semester!
Next edition ...
Next month we'll tell another story from July of when Adam was able to give the message for a wedding. Story and pictures to come!
