We have really been blown away by how God is working to grow Perspectives in the Southeast recently so we wanted to share a few stories with you about some key cities that we have been praying for.
Miami, FL
Miami is the 2nd largest city in our region and the largest with out a Perspectives course. Atlanta which is just slightly bigger runs an average of 4 classes a year, so the potential for Miami is huge. We have been praying for Miami and thinking about how we can launch Perspectives there but honestly we have not had the time to put in to it. God is bigger than all of that and has been working. We received an email a few weeks ago from a Perspectives alumni who recently moved to Miami and wants to run a class, Praise God! The next steps are to get him trained as a coordinator and we are praying to launch a class in fall of 2016.
Atlanta Metro Area
In August we had an Atlanta area Perspectives coordinator gathering. 15 leaders came together to talk about what it would take to expand the Perspectives program in the Atlanta Metro area. We talked about strengths and weaknesses and heard the heart of these coordinators to mobilize their churches to expand God's kingdom. Our time was really fruitful with the group committing to work together in the future to break into new audiences and to plant Perspectives classes in new areas. One of our prayers for this meeting is that a leader would rise to the top to take on the Area mobilizer role for Atlanta and God answered! We had a couple talk with us after the meeting and they have decided to take on the role. Praise God!
Charlotte, NC
We recently read a study that listed the top cities in the country that have the most churches per capita. Charlotte was number 3! The Charlotte metro area is growing constantly and is always listed as a top city in many lists. Perspectives has a good history in Charlotte but typically only runs 1 class per year. Our prayer has been to expand the Perspectives program in Charlotte to 3 classes per year. We were so excited when the established coordinating team told us that another church contacted them to host and they will be running two classes this spring. The second class is in another part of the city and reaches out to some new audiences that haven't been exposed to Perspectives.
Did you pick up on the theme here? God is moving and our role so far has just been to try and keep up. It has really been exciting to see how He has been working to grow this program in really strategic ways. Our region has a lot more growth potential so we will keep praying and ask for you to pray with us, for the Glory of God!
Pray with us for these potential new classes
Tallahassee, FL: They have a lot of interest but no trained coordinator yet.
Charleston, SC: There are a few people that are interested in the class but no alumni to train.
West Palm Beach, FL: several alumni that want to host a class but no trained coordinator yet.
Lakeland, FL: There is a coordinator who is working on building interest to host the class.
Rocky Mount, NC: They have had a few classes in the past but not recently, the coordinator there is trying to build interest to relaunch a class
There are also several established classes that are praying about hosting a class near or own their local university.
