Urbana was a huge success! Over 16,000 students gathered in St. Louis for Intervarsity's triennial mission conference. The Perspectives team worked hard at preparing our exhibitor booth and working with Urbana to promote the Perspectives class.
It was well worth it, we had an amazing team, beautiful booth and giveaways, and made a ton of great connections. We were so blessed by the atmosphere in the exhibit hall. So many of the mission agencies made a point to come by and tell us they were glad that Perspectives was there and how valuable Perspectives is to their agency. Praise God! Here is a great summary of Urbana by the numbers
In the exhibit hall we talked to hundreds of students daily and shared with them about Perspectives but also had the chance to help them process what they were learning and hearing from God. The exhibit hall had hundreds of agencies and was really overwhelming to students. Being one of the 1st booths in the hall allowed us to help students discern what they were looking for and help guild them to agencies to talk to.
I, Melissa, also had the great privileged of co-teaching two seminars at Urbana. The first had about 400 students and covered a lot of the content from Lesson 15 of Perspectives. It was a lot of fun to challenge students to think about how God would use them to reach the unreached. The second seminar focused on an overview of the Perspectives course. After each seminar many students stayed to ask questions and dig in deeper to the content. It was a blessing to hear their hearts and to help coach them a little as they asked God where they fit into His global mission.
Family Trip to Pasadena, CA
Our family was blessed to spend 1.5 weeks with our Frontier Ventures family in Pasadena this January. Adam was working with the
INSIGHT team and helping them onboard a new key staff member. We came at a season of fasting and celebrating for the Pasadena community. We also connected with the Perspectives national team and had some great coaching. There was lots of time with our friends; two Insight alumni even drove down from the bay area to see us. The whole trip was very refreshing and a sweet time with great people.
